Financial Assistance for Veterinary Services

These non-profits help with the cost of veterinary care.

Fix’em KC
Provides subsidized spay/neuter surgery for pet owners who cannot afford the cost of surgery, financially assists community cat caretakers and trappers with the cost of spay/neuter for trap, neuter-spay and return (TNR), and creates more accessibility to area veterinarians for low-income pet owners through the establishment of a vet network.

Waggle
Waggle is a revolutionary, not-for-profit crowdfunding model dedicated to keeping companion animals and their families together. They help pet guardians pay for vital emergency or ongoing veterinary care that they could otherwise not afford.

Search Online for Adoptable Pets

There are so many loving adoptable pets right here in our community waiting for a family to call their own. Luckily, there are online search engines to help pets and families connect! You can search by breed, age, size, behaviors and more to help you find your perfect match.

Petfinder and Adopt-a-Pet are two of the most extensive search engines. They also allow you to sign up to be notified when pets become available that fit your search criteria. Both web sites also offer resources to help you learn about training, pet care and more.

 Shelters & Rescues

Local Shelters

These non-profit organizations have a facility for their pets with visiting hours or by appointment.

Please note: Our list does not include the many shelters and animal services that are run by city or county government agencies. You can search online to see if your community has an animal shelter and/or provides animal services.

These non-profit organizations have adoptable pets primarily living in foster homes.

There are also many rescue groups for purebred dogs and cats. We have not listed those groups below. You can do an online search by specific breed to locate a breed rescue near you. Some of those breed rescue groups will also have mixed breeds for adoption.
